Submission
Guidelines
We welcome submissions by artists interested in
contributing scrapbook art to Cantata Books Inc. The best way to submit
your artwork for consideration is by following the directions on our
"get published" page.
Compensation Guidelines
Cantata Books Inc. is currently working with established
scrapbook artists on upcoming projects. We look forward to identifying
and growing relationships with creative and original scrapbookers. We
are also privileged to offer previously unpublished artists, or those
who are building their creative portfolios, the opportunity to be published
in Cantata books. Their artwork will inspire other scrapbookers around
the world.
Cantata works with both professional and up-and-coming artists in a variety
of ways. The two most common are:
1) Works for hire:
Artists are contacted and commissioned to create artwork specifically
for Cantata Books following exact guidelines. Cantata may supply these
artists with photos to use on the scrapbook art. This artwork becomes
the property of Cantata Books Inc. Artists are paid $50 per single scrapbook
page under the works for hire contract. Cantata will also make a contribution
to charity for each page featured in our books. Artists receive tear sheets
from books in which their artwork appears.
2) Contributing artist: Artists submit previously created (but
previously unpublished) artwork to Cantata Books Inc. This artwork may
be submitted in response to a call for art on our web site or through
another on-line site. If selected for publication, the artist agrees to
allow Cantata Books Inc. the exclusive right to utilize the artwork in
books, compilations and other products. The artist receives credit for
her artwork. As compensation, Cantata Books Inc. sends the artist a copy
of the book in which the artwork is featured and returns the artwork to
the artist. Cantata will alsomake a contribution to charity for each page
featured in our books.
Editorial
Guidelines
Cantata Books Inc. publishes only scrapbook art
that has not been published previously in whole or in part in any forum
(this does not include postings on submission sites such as scrapsubmit).
Artwork that appears in Cantata books may not be published in any place
at any time after being featured in a Cantata book.
Cantata Books is seeking pages with outstanding photos which are beautifully
composed, in focus, and visually compelling.
Journaling appearing on scrapbook pages must be original-no poetry or
song lyrics.
Model releases are necessary for all images appearing on scrapbook pages.
